The hydraulic disc brake fluid is contained within the hydraulic tubes that connect the master cylinder (i.e., the brake lever) to the brake body. When we press the lever, also called the master cylinder, the fluid transfers the force applied to the two pistons, which push the pads against the rotor, allowing the speed to slow down. This is possible thanks to the incompressibility characteristics of the fluid, which transmits the force without absorbing it. The operation of a disc brake is based on the friction between the disc and the pad, which generates significant heat that is also transferred to the system and thus to the fluid, which must be able to withstand the stress without reaching its boiling point.
